Charleston, South Carolina Engagement Photos – Tom and Xin

I recently had the pleasure of photographing Tom and Xin in the historic city of Charleston, South Carolina. The couple met there when Tom was in the Air Force. So on their recent trip back he proposed and lined up the engagement session. We had a great shoot around the Battery, Rainbow Row, downtown Charleston and Shem Creek in Mt. Pleasant.

Langham Hotel Wedding – Save the Date, Ella and Sam

I have a wedding on Saturday, September 17th at the Langham Hotel in Pasadena. The bride and groom have a Hollywood/Entertainment theme for their event. So for the grand entrance they are walking a red carpet and having a step and repeat. The coordinator had the idea of creating a paparazzi style entrance. Their Save the Date was a recreation of a entertainment tabloid.

The entrance is set for 6PM so everyone can start arriving by 5:30. Please bring your camera and flash set up to recreate the glamour of the red carpet walk.

The couple is going to provide pizza and drinks for everyone. We can use it as a B School get together. I’m sure I’ll have some downtime to eat and hangout as well. It’s also a great chance to check out a great hotel.

Lexington, Kentucky Engagement Session Photos – Jenny and Daniel

Jenny and Daniel are my second Lexington couple for this summer. They are getting married at the Carrick House which is a classic old home in downtown Lexington that’s been turned into a great wedding venue. Another remodel was complete just last year. I think will have a lot to work with between the property and downtown. So for their engagement session we decided to shoot on the fringes of the city including; Wine and Market, Stella’s Deli, The Grey Goose, and Ashland, The Henry Clay Estate.

I’m super stoked to be shooting two weddings in Kentucky later this summer. Anne and Brandon wanted to go urban with their engagement session so we hit the streets of downtown Lexington. It was a ghost town on that Sunday afternoon which proved to be great for the photos. We started at one of my favorite new eateries called Table 310. It looks great in the background! As we made our way through town Anne and Brandon couldn’t resist just a few photos in their BIG BLUE gear, GO CATS!

MAD MEN Engagement Session – Ashley and Anthony

I try to get an actual client of mine to model for the Mentor Session each year. You might remember Diane and Kevin from last year. This year Ashley and Anthony kindly volunteered their engagement session to have a little MAD MEN style… Below is the initial book design.

Sarasota, Florida Engagement Session – Jordan and Eric

Last month I made a quick trip to Sarasota for Jordan and Eric’s engagement session. We had planned on photographing at the Ca d’zon, which is the amazing property of John and Mabel Ringling of the Ringling Brothers Circus. However, it was closed for a TBS filming on the one day I was in town . So we hit the streets of downtown Sarasota, the marina and the Ritz-Carlton.

Their wedding is coming up this Saturday and I’m super excited about being a part of their weekend. Prior to our time together I was slated to fly in late on Friday and return early on Sunday. However, the plan has progressively developed. Now Eric planned a Bern’s Steak House night on Thursday, fishing with the guys on Friday and well you know… Wedding on Saturday. I should work a little I suppose. Maybe I’ll fly back in the afternoon just in case I work too hard… Cheers to new friends that happen to be clients!

Seattle Engagement Session, Amy and Joel

Last week I had the pleasure of photographing Amy and Joel around some cool sites in Seattle, Washington. If you watch the news in Seattle you may recognize them… They are both local new reporters in the field. We had a great day for shooting! The weather was cold and snow just the week before. We started on top of Joel’s work building. It’s almost directly under the space needle. Then we hit Pike’s Place Market, never a bad spot.

After our session we made a quick stop at Elysian Brewery before heading to The Metropolitan Grill for dinner. Elysian had a great craft beers, the Stout was amazing. The food was pleasantly suspiring as well. The chicken nachos held us over before steak. The Metropolitan is considered the best steak in the city. I definitely held up it’s reputation!

Kentucky Engagement Proposal, Buffalo Trace Distillery – Matt and Kelsey

This summer I was fortunate to capture a very special moment in the lives of Matt and Kelsey. Matt came to me with capturing the proposal idea after finding out I was traveling home to Kentucky for a few portrait shoots. They attended my One-on-One and Mentor Session in Las Vegas last year. So Matt and I disguised the shoot as a follow up session to the mentoring. Little did Kelsey know that Matt planned on proposing part way through our photo shoot! I’m looking forward to their wedding in April.

San Francisco Engagement Session: Part 2 – Anne-Marie and Brian

Here’s part 2 of my San Francisco engagement sessions from March. Anne-Marie and Brian had some great spots they wanted to hit, including one I’d never been before. They turned me onto an awesome view of the city from a tiny hill top park. You can see Coit Tower to the North and the Financial District to the South. Amazing up there, a true hidden gem! I plan on taking Rach for a picnic up there in October when we’re back to shoot the wedding. Enjoy!
