It started a bit cloudy on Saturday in South Pasadena but the rain held off. Katrina was getting ready at an amazing house with lots of areas to shoot. After photographing the bridal party and couple we headed to the church in San Marino for the family and ceremony shots. Tyrone is a huge USC fan so his two nieces were dressed as Trojan cheerleaders/flowergirls! After the ceremony we made a quick trip to “Oldtown” Pasadena for a few urban shots with the couple. Then my favorite part of the night was when the USC Band busted in after the grand entrance. Nicely coordinated by Kelley Gin to keep 15 people dressed as Trojans with huge instruments hidden! Below are a few of my favorites from the day….

Cool shoes, I love when the brides go outside the normal white and cream. The ring shot was on the front door knob!

This was a killer door to use as a background.

The bestman, Hubert with the wedding bands! My brother-in-law, Evoke Photography, shot his wedding a couple weeks ago.

My favorite alley in “Oldtown” Pasadena

This probably one of my favorite all-time reception shots! Leave a comment if you want to know how I got this shot.

hey Victor,
it was nice meeting you in person last night! what a small world…(i feel i’ve been saying this a lot too)i know katrina!! i went to church with her and i know some of the groomsmen!! oh my..small world!
I shot a wedding last weekend in Newport Beach and the USC Marching Band played their reception, too! Aren’t they fantastic? I’m a USC alum so it was especially fun for me to watch.
Great shots!
Kelley,
Yes, the shoes did fall off the door knob but it wasn’t the right shot anyway. The rings looked much better on there. Thanks for another great event! vcs
Hey Melissa K,
We’ll there is two ways of doing it, one by using your own flash with radio slaves and one using a flash from a guest. This shot was the latter. I got on the stage to face the crowd then I set my camera manual to under expose about 1-stop. Then I set it shutter to High on the Mark III. Then just snap away! It takes a little luck to catch a guests flash but if you take enough shots and for a performance like that they’ll be enough people using their own cameras.

I remember walking into the foyer of the house while you were trying to set up a shot on the door knob…I said something to you and the shoes fell! Sorry about that! The USC Band photos are killer. So, how did you get that shot? KLG
