August 2006

There were a lot of crazy things happening this weekend! I shot Rebecca and Juan’s wedding in Fresno on Saturday. Juan made it back safely from serving 14 months in Kuwait working intelligence for the Army. Let’s remember those who defend our freedom! My friend Paul and I flew from John Wayne in a small Cessna named “761 BravoLima.” It was awesome being in a smaller airplane and flying lower to the ground. We were cruising anywhere from 8-10,000 feet doing around 200 mph. The best part was when Jason (Pilot and my former groom) let me take the controls!!!

Today I spoke at a Graphi Studio workshop in Minnesota close to Graphi’s US sales office. We had a great turnout with 42 photographers in all, mostly from the surrounding area and one from Florida. Below are a few shots of Peter during his presentation. He forgot to shoot a few of me but that’s okay I’m going to make him shoot my official headshot next week when I’m up in Bay area.

I shot a very cool engagement session with Jesse and Christina this week at an aviation musuem called “Planes of Fame.” It now turns out they are having the wedding there as well. It should be an awesome event with the 20/30s, Art Deco style not to mention all the cool airplanes! Below is the “Save the Date” postcard I designed for them and one other photo that I couldn’t resist posting.

Jill and Michael came out from Washington D.C. to get married at Surf and Sand Resort in Laguna Beach. It was another beautiful day on the coast! I had the pleasure of working with Marla Lackey and the day was very smooth, the band was awesome, and we had a great vendor meal! Below are a few of my favorite shots from the day. I took the high-key image of the bride in leu of the recent discussion on DWF, what do you think?

There’s nothing like a mid-week wedding to get the gears turning… Michelle and Jimmy had an small quaint wedding at the Montage on Tuesday where I think there might have been as may vendors as guests! We had another beautiful day! I work with Michelle often because she is also in the wedding industry. She is a catering manager at the Hyatt in Huntington Beach. Below are a few infared shots from the wedding.

I had a fun but quick shoot with Lillian and Bijan on Tuesday afternoon. We did a few different things but my favorite photo were the ones below. I spotted this great wall a while back and finally got to use it. When I got home I was in a pretty Patriotic mood so Rach and I dressed the kids in their 4th of July outfits. We took some shots over at Fire Engine park since I was in Maui over the holiday.

These guys had an amazing wedding on Sunday, 225 guest all from out of town. The decor was off the hook from White Lilac! Three different bands: a quartette (Ceremony), Voodoo Vibe (Cocktail), and 5th Avenue (Reception – 12 piece). One of my favorite things besides the black dance floor and the 20 huge magenta hanging lanterns was the ice sculpture/3 Martini luge shaped like the New York skyline. Anyway, here are a few of my favorites. I probably over did it with the insane parasol…
